Photoshoot at Ho(s)tel of Dreams
Doing a photoshoot for a several awards won Hotel/Hostel can be tough.
Dream Hostel is in 2010 opened accommodation for low budget travelers visiting Tampere. The premises are in two floors of witch the lower is serving as the reception and the Hostel area and the floor above is reserved for the Hotel guests.
The interior is wonderfully Scandinavian with it’s wooden panels, carpets and light grey and white colors, something you might find form an IKEA catalogue. The decor follows the same path simple yet very cozy.
The actual photoshoot was done on two consecutive days. On the first day the hostels common areas such as bathrooms, showers and the breakfast are were captured. On the second the Hotel areas on the upper floor.
The challenge in projects like this are the people staying in the Hotel, the staff has to be able to work there normally and everything needs to run smoothly.
The gear used was mainly Nikon D800 and 16-35 f4 lens and the 70-200 f2.8. For lighting Elinchrom Ranger set with several soft-boxes. The camera was tethered to the computer for having ability to review the images while shooting.
The images were edited with realism in mind and we focused in bringing out the cozy and homey feeling of the place. Being able to photograph a place that is well prepared and having people who have clear vision is always a pleasure.
